make a change

As the summer season creeps quickly,

we’re often faced with a lot of changes. When a musician (or anyone for that matter) has to make a change, there’s a lot of things that could happen. That’s why I had Dan Wendelken return to Breakthrough Music for a very special podcast episode!

For those of you who don’t know, Dan – the trumpet man – Wendelkan is an extremely accomplished trumpet player and music educator playing and teaching in numerous settings. In the past few years I’ve gotten to work with┬áDan on his short visits home from his tours of off broadway musicals and cruise ships mastering his craft.

Recently Dan had to make a change…quite a big one in fact. His love for teaching is just as strong as playing and after being offered a full time band director position, he had to change a lot of his daily rituals and priorities which was a major focus of our episode. We also talk about…

  • Why it’s good to get as much varied experience while you’re young
  • The difference between time and priorities and why he’s very clear about the two
  • What it’s like to pick up a new instrument at age 27
  • What happened to the famous co-host of The Practice Room?!?!

Enjoy this episode of the podcast!
